NATIONAL GUARD BUREAU ATTENDANCE AND TRAVEL GUIDANCE

 

The chief of the National Guard Bureau signed a memorandum to the adjutants general June 9 authorizing a limited number of officers from each state and territory to attend the NGAUS conference on official orders. NGAUS has provided the memo to every Guard association nationwide.

A 45-minute bus ride will take you to the trailhead of Mount Rose, which rises to become the highest and most topographically prominent peak of the greater Sierra Nevada range in the state. It also overlooks Lake Tahoe. You will choose between two trails. One is 2.5 miles up and back (5 miles total); the other is 5.5 miles up and back (11 miles total).

Riders will start and end in Reno.

There will be a safety brief at 9:30 a.m. with the ride beginning immediately afterward. The ride will proceed to Lake Tahoe then to the picturesque Caples Lake near Kirkwood Ski Resort for a picnic-style lunch. From there the tour will proceed through Carson City and up another mountain to the historic mining town of Virginia City where we will take a break and allow everybody to enjoy the sights. The last leg will be a beautiful twisty road back to Reno. Expect to return to Reno between 4 to 5 p.m. There will be an alternate ride available for anybody who does not feel comfortable on challenging mountain roads. A limited number of rentals are available at Twisted Road, Riders Share, Nevada Adventure Rentals and Eagle Rider (only available in Lake Tahoe). For more information, contact Col. FAQs

Who do I contact if I have dietary restrictions?

Contact Lt. Col. Shaun Cruze at [email protected] as soon as possible to ensure your needs are met.

Is the facility handicap accessible?

Accessible doors to the facility are located at the North, South and Main entrances. The convention center is one level, making each meeting room and exhibit hall easily accessible for all. There is at least one handicapped stall with the wheelchair accessibility in each women’s and men’s restroom throughout the convention center.

Are there handicap scooters or wheelchairs available to rent?

Not onsite, but please contact Cloud of Goods (www.cloudofgoods.com/reno-nv) at 775-232-8774 or Kimberly Yalweishe at [email protected].

What about a room for nursing mothers?

A room will be located in A15. Tables, chairs and a small refrigerator will be located inside.

How do I register for the conference?

Registration for the conference is $180, plus fees for shuttles or events. The registration process is dependent upon being an individual attendee, distinguished guest and exhibiting or non-exhibiting industry.

Individual attendees must register through their state association. Please contact your state association leadership for a registration application. NGB, Title 10 officers need to register thru their affiliated states.

Exhibitor and non-exhibiting registration are both now on the NGAUS conference webpage - see above. Booth sales are available through the Exhibitor Prospectus.

I have registered through my state, now what?

All attendees can expect to receive correspondence from NGAUS as we draw closer to the conference. Correspondence will let attendees know what to expect upon arrival. Please ensure you have registered for both the conference and housing (hotel).

I registered for the conference, but now, I am no longer able to attend. Can I get a refund for registering?

All registrations paid to attend the 145th General Conference and Exhibition are refundable less a $15 administration fee until July 15. After July 15, all registration sales are final.

Are there restrictions on the number of people on the exhibit floor, in the sessions or during social events?

No. Capacity restrictions have been lifted.

Will there be a virtual component to the conference?

No, there will not be a virtual component or live-streaming; however, all major speeches will be available on the NGAUS YouTube Channel after they are made.

Additional Health & Safety Information

NGAUS is committed to the health and safety of all our attendees, exhibitors, guests and staff during the COVID-19 pandemic. The leadership is monitoring recommendations from local health authorities and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for large group meetings and events.

The host venue for the 145th General Conference & Exhibition, the city of Reno has implemented stringent measures to protect guest health and safety as part of a City-Wide Safety Plan, which includes enhanced sanitation, extra air circulation, and employee screening and temperature checks.

Increased Safety Messages: NGAUS will share health and safety messages through the association’s conference app. The app, sponsored by AFBA, will be available for download in the Apple Store and on Google Play (Coming This Summer!).

Medical Personnel on Site: The convention center will have medical personnel onsite to help anyone feeling ill.

Hotel Health and Safety Guidelines

Reno hotels are open and the health of staff and guests remain a top priority. Mask mandates and capacity restrictions have been lifted, but it is still a good idea to check with your hotel to see what guidelines may be in place and which on-property amenities are open.
